SMS Alerts
Deal Racquet Club sends its players a text when one of their matches is scheduled, a reminder before they play, and a note when it is time to say which dates they cannot make. This page explains exactly what that means, and lets you say yes or no.
Texts are optional. Text alerts are entirely optional. You do not have to agree to anything to play in Deal Racquet Club, to be scheduled, or to use any part of this website. Nothing on this page is part of joining the league, and a player who says no is treated exactly as everybody else is — the commissioner simply reaches them another way.
Who we are, and what we send
Deal Racquet Club is a recreational tennis league. It texts its own registered players, and nobody else, about the matches they are personally scheduled to play: when a match is put on the calendar, a reminder two days before it, and a request for the dates they cannot play when the next round is being scheduled. No marketing, no promotions, and no messages to anybody who is not in the league.
Message frequency varies with the season, and is typically two to six messages a month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them. Reply HELP for help, or contact Deal Racquet Club.

Your choice
For players of Deal Racquet Club. Either answer is fine, and neither affects anything else.
How players come to be on the list
There are two ways, and no others. Nobody is added from a purchased list, a third party, or any source but their own agreement, and in neither path is agreeing a condition of joining the league, of being scheduled, or of anything else the club does.
On this page
- A player visits Deal Racquet Club's text alerts page at /sms, which is linked from the footer of every page on the site and requires no account or login to reach.
- The page is only about text messages. It is not a registration form, not a checkout, and not part of joining the league. A player can read every word of it, take part in the league, and never be texted.
- The player types their name and, if they want texts, their own mobile number.
- Below the fields is a single tick box, empty by default, beside the consent wording shown on this page. It concerns text messages and nothing else — it is not an acceptance of the terms of use, and agreeing to the terms of use is not a condition of it.
- The Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use are linked beside the box as links, so they can be read without agreeing to anything.
- Two buttons follow, both always usable: "Sign me up for text alerts" and "No thanks - I do not want texts". Neither is pre-selected, and the second is as plainly offered as the first.
- If the player chooses to sign up, the club records the name, the number, the exact wording agreed to, and the date and time, and shows a confirmation saying how to stop.
- If the player declines, the club records that they were offered and declined, keeps no number for them, and shows a confirmation saying their place in the league is unaffected. They are never messaged.
In person, when joining the league
- A player joins Deal Racquet Club by speaking to the commissioner, in person or by phone, and asks to be entered in a season.
- The commissioner explains that the club sends match times, reminders and availability requests by text, that frequency varies, that message and data rates may apply, and that a player can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving them.
- The commissioner also says, in the same breath, that texts are optional and that declining them changes nothing about the player's place in the league or the way they are scheduled.
- If the player wants them, they give their mobile number and say they agree to be texted on those terms.
- The commissioner enters the number on the player's record in the club's administrative dashboard, which is the only way a number reaches the system other than the page above.
- A player who does not want texts simply does not give a number. Their record is left blank, they are never messaged, and they are entered in the season exactly as anybody else is.
Stopping, and help
- Reply STOP to any message and the club can no longer text that number. It takes effect at once and needs nothing from us.
- Reply HELP for help, or ask the commissioner to take your number off the record.
- Message and data rates may apply. Carriers do not charge for STOP or HELP.
- Stopping the texts has no effect on your membership, your fixtures or your standing. The commissioner will simply reach you another way.
- The club never shares your number. See the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use.
